Mark Brown, Democratic Candidate for Marion County Sheriff
I am a 22 year veteran, sergeant, of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. I have supervised:
- Investigation Division- Detectives
- Operations Division- Uniformed Officers
- Administration Division- Human Resources
As an officer I have worked other areas of the department which include; narcotics, field training officer, accident investigation and evidence technician.
I graduated from Broad Ripple High School and have attended Oakland City University for Business Management.
I am the 11th of 12 children. I am married with 8 children, (3 birth children and 5 children I raised as my own after their mother, my sister passed away). I am a member of Northside New Era Church and I serve in the music ministry.
I come from a family of Union workers. My father was president of AFSCME 725. My 3 brothers are also members. I have a brother and brother-in-law who are members of UAW and UAW 933. Additionally, my father-in-law,(deceased), and my 3 brothers-in-law are members of Local 440 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union.
I recognize the importance of Unions and support the unions. I am a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Union.
