Mark Brown, Democratic Candidate for Marion County Sheriff
I was born on July 27th, the 11th of 12 children. I am a longtime resident of Indianapolis, Marion County. I am married to a wonderful lady named Lisa, who is the love of my life. I have 8 children who are now adults and teenagers. Lisa and I have raised five of the children as our own from a young age when their mother, who is my sister, passed away at an early age. We are also proud to have 5 grandchildren.
I attended Indianapolis Public Schools #73 and #1 during my elementary years. I then attended Forest Manor Junior High School. I attended Arlington High School, before moving my senior year and graduating from Broad Ripple High School.(I'm a Knight Rocket). I also attended Oakland City University.
I am a member of Northside New Era Baptist Church, where I serve in the music ministry.
I love sports, coaching or umpiring baseball, working with my son on baseball and football, music and spending time with my wife and the rest of our family.
I am a 21 year veteran of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. As a sergeant, I have supervised, and lead in many divisions within the Indianapolis Police Department and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
My experience in Law Enforcement include a wide array of responsibilities:
- Operations Division - Field Supervisor of Road Patrol
- Investigations Division - Domestic Violence Detective Sergeant
- Administration Division- Supervisor of Human Resources/ Personnel Invesigations, Recruiting, and the Polygraph Unit
